Pangea Day, Bangalore

Pangea Day

Pangea Day is a global event bringing the world together through film.

Why? In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it’s easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film.

Its happening here in Banagalore this weekend (10th May,200 8) at

THE ARYAN:Whats my history?

Subramania Iyer (founder of THE HINDU) says the Aryans are from the Indus valley who were avid fighters who waged war with the inhabitants, won the wars against everyone on their way south and at last settled here in TN which they called HOME.

Pundit Joythee Doss (Tamil Scholar) says the Aryans were losers from the vanga country (Bengal?) who waged war against the buddhists (paryars of TN) ,cheated them in perception that they were sons of GOD and got settled in TN.

Now which one is true here? But one thing common between both these fellas is that they says the aryans are not the original inhabitants of TN

Everything happens for Good.Very true. The good thing that happened here is that I migrated my blog to wordpress and the originial  reason was because “Google reported my blogger’s blog as a spam”.I would have not done this hadn’t Google done this. Thanks to Ganesh for suggesting me this kick ass product.WordPress is simply incomparable when it comes to Dashboard, adding widgets and perf graphs.Request all feed readers to check out the look and feel and gimme your comments. Thanks!

Barcamp Bangalore 6:One for the summer

Barcamp Bangalore 6

Barcamp Bangalore is back again. Its BCB 6 (happening on April 19th and 20th 2008 @ IIMB), a summer edition this time.Summer edition? So whats special this time around with this Summer edition..errr..Nothing!!!.Its just that we had a winter edition the last time around ,So the organizers decided that we’ll have a summer edition this time .The name of the editions doesn’t add much value to the content of the barcamps. So breaking your head on this doesn’t add much value.Checkout the official website for more details. There is one serious change this time. There are no registrations page where you can add your name, drop in @ IIMB,grab a tee, have lunch, spend some time in the lawns of IIMB,have beer and drop back home.Such an itenary adds very little value to barcampers. So either need to volunteer or initiate a session. When I mean Initiate,I mean you need to start a talk on a topic where the audience join you to either offend, defend or add value.AS SIMPLE AS THAT.This is where the whole essense of barcamp lies.In other words we call this “UNCONFERENCE

Checkout the previous versions of BCBs here.

Bicycle ride:Big Bannyan tree

Le tour de france

NICE ring road end point

Big Bannyan tree

Big Banyan tree is around 30 km from Bangalore (at-least from BTM).We started around 7:00 am ,a single pit stop at Mysore road and a deviation to the right after kengeri and proceeding on the way to savadurga you get the Big Banyan tree.Scores second just behind the Adyar Bannyan tree in Chennai in size (it really matters).Took some good shots and proceeded back to BTM.On the way back we decided to take the NICE road which takes an extra 8-9 km in our return journey.Reason:Wanted to get a feel of the beauty of the non stop of highway.NICE road didn’t disappoint.A classy road to reach top speeds..But for cyclists like us,really a trying one.Right from Mysore road to kannakupura road it was a bit steep which made us work hard for each and every Km.Just before Bannshankari , my pedal gave up as it got loosened and came out.Tried some cycle shops for help…but in vain as they said that fire-fox spare parts are not available with them.

What do i do next?Simple…Put my cycle in an auto and reached home in the next 15 minutes.Lesson learnt, not to strain your pedals too much. For the complete photo trial check this link

Big blows:Raghuvaran & Sujatha..R.I.P

Raghuvaran
Raghuvaran
Sujatha
Rangarajan aka Sujatha
Now this is really a huge loss to the Tamil film dom. These two legends combined in Mudhalvan to deliver the best of the industry.”No..No..No..I know I know I know…” - Raghuvaran at his best.
PS:The last time I saw raghuvaran in TV was with Madan in vijay TV,He was worried that he did not get character roles like the one in Mudhalavan. He had a complaint that directors called him for roles of a father which gave him very less opportunities to perform.
Madhavan’s role in Kannathil muthamittal was an inspiration from S.Rangarajan aka Sujatha.
Checkout this clip from the movie Mudalavan. This was one movie where both these legends combined to deliver the best.

Bicycle ride:Bannerghatta National Park

Pit Stop

After buying my new girl, she has been crying for not taking her out to show some of the frames of the country side (or can be called as),So decided to take her for a ride this Sunday morning (09/03),some how managing to squeeze in between the busy schedule at my office. We left BTM around 7:00 am, a couple of pit stops and reached back home around 10:30 am.Pretty good ride to start with.Do drop in a note in the comments in case you are planning for something similar over the weekend in and around Bangalore…Will follow up with few more in the weeks ahead. For the complete photo trail check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/20995671@N04/2321039512/

Google:”You are a spammer”

Google doubts my laout as a spam. Now I can’t stand this…I wonder how could they develop such a dumb product when it comes to developing a spam gaurd.Or its the other way round…Is my blog really a spam.Off course there have been some spam comments…Accepted..Show me a blog (from blogger) that doesn’t have a spam comments?I say its the duty of the product to block the spams. Why the heck should I worry going on deleting each and every spam comment in my posts..(the truth is that I am happy to see that at least the spammers leave comments to my posts is a different issue). The blogger team says that they are reviewing my blog, for a long time now.I have been made to wait…wait and wait. Now I have lost my patience that I have decided that its time for me to move to wordpress .Hey Google,Mark my words…”you have a lost a potential customer….you gonna regret this..”(Some one link this post to the blogger team please…).

Billa:A treat to the eyes

Billa 2007,a faithful remake of the movie Don/Billa is a real treat to the eyes in more than one form.Nirav shah who has handled the cinematography has matched the works of Mohanan who handled his profile in Don.The movie has the real sophisticated touch as the whole movie is shot at Malaysia. And then there is Miss 9thara who has been the real treat to the eyes with her skimpy attire.Oh man..she is really bold. Thanks to Tamil cinema which brought her from the backwaters of Kerala. On the whole thanks to Vishnu who took care that the audience do not go out for a fag when the movie is reeling. Its really tough job to do ,as the audience are already aware of the story and only a good screenplay/direction can make them stick to their seats.I am sure he had in his mind that the his Billa should at least be equivalent to the new Don if not better.I should say has succeeded.
